This Years Christmas Cards

I have a good start on my Christmas cards for this year. Below are two different designs that are completed.

The first one was created with a stamp I bought at Michaels or Hobby Lobby (I don't remember which one). I embossed the image with Iredescent Sparkle Craft Essentials from JoAnn's then colored with my Copic Markers. After everything dried I sprayed the image with Smooch Spritz from HL . Paper is last years paper pack that I purchased at HL. I have to say I'm lovin the easel cards this year.

This next card was made from a Sure Cuts A Lot file that someone shared on one of the newsgroups I belong to. I can't remember the person's name but the reindeer is such an adorable little guy. The paper is Creative memories. I sprayed the white paper with Smooch Spritz and embossed with Spellbinders Snowflake. I applied xmas red Stickles to the HoHoHo.

Again it has been a while since I posted. It has been one heck of a year not only for me but for a lot of people. I don't usually celebrate the New Year but this is one year I'll be glad to forget.

Anyway I finally found the time to get some work done with my crafts. I made these cards as a drawing prize for a weekend crop I am doing. They are all made with Creative Memories paper. The cutouts are Cricut. The Christmas card cutout is from the Snow Friends cartridge and the other two cards cutouts are from the new Creative Memories Cartridge Reminisce Accents.

Hello again,

I have always loved crafting. Some of the crafts I have enjoyed over the years are Cross Stitching, Knitting, Crocheting, and Painting. I have never saved much of what I have done. I usually make gifts for people that I would really like to have myself and give it away.

But Mom's always save everything their children make them (sometimes they may not even like it).

Posted is something I made for my Mom many years ago that still hung on her wall until today.

This next card I think is my favorite. The butterfly is from the Home Decor Cricut Cartridge. I cut the bottom layer then adhered vellum to that. I then cut another butterfly the same size and covered it with stickles. The blue strip is an svg file.

This is my least favorite card. It seems to missing something. Leave a comment if you would.

Another Card

This card was made for my son's birthday. I used my Cri-Kits pens and a svg file for the Happy Birthday. The fish and fishing pole was cut using the Camp Out cartridge with my cricut. I embossed the mats and sanded them to get the "poka dot" effect. Hope you like!

I can't believe how time flies!!! I finally had some time to do some crafting. Below is some cards I've made. The first is a step card I made for my niece's birthday. The flowers were created in SCAL using a svg file from Penny Duncan. I like how it turned out. The lettering was created using my Cri-Kit pens with my Cricut. I hope you like it.

Another Thank You card. Not much Cricut involved but this was the most difficult. The image, purchased at Michaels, was stamped with StazOn ink then embossed with black embossing powder. I think the major difficulty was with the paper and had to redo the image several times. I'm still not completely happy with it but enough is enough and I'm calling it done.

Hi all!

Well again life gets in the way of doing things we really want to do and doing the necessary things. My mother passed away February 27th. She had a mild heart attack on January 30th and spent 10 days in the hospital. While there the doctors found she had lung cancer that had spread to some of her lymph nodes and one small location in the spine of her neck. She had not started her chemotherapy when she suffered a massive heart attack. She left this world under her terms, not the cancer's terms. We miss her terribly but know she is in a much better place.

I have been getting back into the routine of things and making thank you cards. The file for the first card is from Wanda, who is so talented and always generous with her talent.

The next card was created with a file from Penny who is also a very talented lady and always always always willing to help and share her knowledge with everyone. Stop over to Penny and Wanda's blog to see some amazing work.

Hello all! Sorry it's been a while since I posted. My mother has been in the hospital for the last 1 1/2 weeks. She is home now but has a long road ahead of her, so please keep her in your prayers.

They say that imitation is the best form of flattery....I made this card for a friend of mine who lives in PA. The card file is from Penny Duncan. Her designs are absolutely wonderful. If you have time stop by her blog and check out some of her work. I hope you like my version.

The 11th is my baby brothers 45th Birthday. Boy does that make me feel old! lol!

I have been playing with my new Copic Markers and I don't think I have them mastered yet but the dog is colored with them. I hope to have some more time to play with them later.

I have also been working on making some cards for my Aunt that lives in WV. She had her 100th Birthday the 19th of January. I think the reason she stays so young is she has always drove in them thar hills!

Some of the files I am using are from another great designer, Wanda. I have not finished them yet but will post when I do.

Well I had a very productive weekend, but not much to show for it. I tried some new techniques that I haven't tried before such as watercolor pencils and step cards. It all started because I needed a card for my granddaughter's birthday this coming weekend. I saw a card on another sharing board and loved it. Here is my version. For those who don't know how to make this card, please search youtube for "step card". There are many good video's that can explain this better than I.

I made the card with the following supplies;
Creative Memories cardstock
The heart was cut with SCAL and the file was from Paulo
White heart was embossed a Cuttle Bug folder
The fairy was cut by tracing in Inkscape, imported into SCAL and cut on the Cricut.
Stickles was applied to the wings.
Mounted with CM foam squares
Finally the lacy border was cut with a MS punch.

BTW yes that is a Lava Lamp in the background ;-)

Learning Inkscape

Hi everyone!

Well as some of you may know I love my Cricut! Several months ago I purchased the Cricut Design Studio and Sure Cuts a Lot (SCAL). There are so many people out there that make totally awesome designs and files for both software programs. I became somewhat jealous that I didn't know how to create the files that can be cut in SCAL so for the last couple of weeks I have been busy learning Inkscape. Inkscape is a program that allows you to creat svg files that then can be imported into SCAL. After the files are in SCAL you can cut them with your Cricut. So for those who are interested, Penny Duncan has some great video tutorials on Inkscape. You can find them HERE. Here is an example of a card that I created using Inkscape and adding a file created by Paulo. There are a couple of mistakes but I'm pleased with it overall. Visit Paulo's blog HERE. Hi everyone! it's been a while I know since I last posted. I hope everyone had a happy holiday! I sure did. I made everyone something for Christmas. I made Glass Blocks and monogram tiles for the adults, and for the younger kids I made name tiles to hang in their bedrooms.

Yesterday I was surfing some of the blogs I frequent, and they inspired me to make some cards. Here are 4 of them. For the first card I used the liner option of the Wild Card Cricut Cartridge. The flowers were from a file created by Penny Duncan.

These next 2 cards were inspired by a post in the Cricut Community. Both are the same general design just different papers.

My New Year's resolution is to stay up to date with this blog.

I all!! Sorry it's been so long since I posted. I have been playing with new software for the Cricut. The first is the Cricut Design Studio software. You can use this software along with your Cricut machine and cartridges to weld together your words and shapes.
The second software program is the Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) software. This software can be used with any true type font (TTF) along with your Cricut machine. The great thing with this software is you do not need any cartridges!! I'm still playing around with both of these programs but so far they extend the versatility of your Cricut machine beyond belief. I used the SCAL for the two LO posted today. The roller coaster was created with the Carnival Days TTF. For the May LO, I used the Eutemia Ornaments TTF and OleScriptSSK TTF. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate both of the programs an 8. I would give them a 10 if the programs could be used interchangeably.
